DIVERSITY

LGBT AT MOFO

Morrison & Foerster has a long history of nurturing tolerance, inclusion and mutual respect. We have had an active diversity program for more than a decade, which focuses on issues related to race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, identity and expression. The Advocate has named us one of the ten most enlightened employers for gays and lesbians five times in the last six years. MultiCultural Law magazine ranked the firm in its first among the "Top 25 Law Firms for Openly Gay/Lesbian Americans in 2007". The 2011-2012 Vault survey "Guide to the Top 100 Law Firms" ranked the firm as number six among law firms for gays and lesbians. The firm voluntarily participated in The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Corporate Equality Index, which is a tool designed to measure how equitably companies across the nation are treating their gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender employees. Each year since 2003, we have received a 100% rating (out of 100%) on the HRC Corporate Equality index. Over 50 of our lawyers are openly gay or lesbian.

We take advantage of opportunities to meet LGBT law students by sponsoring receptions, lectures, panel discussions and other events hosted by law student organizations and bar committees.

Our pro bono program enhances our diversity efforts by offering opportunities for our lawyers to work on issues relating to civil rights and civil liberties and AIDS-related matters. We actively support and are involved with a number of gay, lesbian and bisexual organizations, including the Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund.
